Where Confidence & Reading Grow Together.

Reins & Reading at Algun Dia Ranch is a unique, ground-based literacy program where children build confidence, communication skills, and a love of learning through meaningful interactions with horses.

Where Children Feel Seen, Safe, and Capable.

At Reins & Reading, children discover that learning doesn’t have to feel stressful.  Surrounded by patient horses and caring mentors, they build confidence, communication skills, and a love of learning – one small succcess at a time.

A Unique Reading Program

Why Horses?

Builds Confidence

Every success with a horse helps children build self-confidence, celebrate small victories, and discover they are capable of more than they imagined.

Meaningful Connections

When children connect with a horse, they experience trust, acceptance, and encouragement - creating the confidence to take on new challenges, both in learning and in life.

Improves Communication

Horses respond honestly to body language, focus, and intention, encouraging children to communicate with clarity and confidence.

Fun & Engaging

Learning comes to life through interactive activities, creative challenges, and meaningful horse experiences that keep children excited to return each week.

Inside A Reins & Reading Session…

Every Reins & Reading session combines meaningful interactions with horses, engaging literacy games and activities in a calm, supportive environment.   As children groom, lead, solve challenges, and read alongside their equine partners, they naturally build confidence, strengthen communication, improve focus, and develop leadership and problem-solving skills.  Every activity is thoughtfully designed to help children grow- not just as readers, but as confident, capable individuals.

What parents are saying

Reins & Reading has been such a blessing for our family. As a parent of a daughter with ADHD, finding something that truly engages her while building her confidence isn’t always easy. Since joining the program, I’ve seen her become more excited about reading, more confident in herself, and eager to participate each week. The combination of horses and reading creates such a unique, calming, and encouraging environment where she feels successful.

Our favorite part has been watching the special bond she has developed with the horses and seeing how much she looks forward to every session. Pam has an incredible gift for connecting with children. Her patience, kindness, and genuine belief in each child makes them feel seen, capable, and valued.

To any parent considering Reins & Reading, I would say without hesitation: do it. This program is about so much more than reading. It’s about building confidence, fostering a love of learning, and giving children a place where they can grow at their own pace in a supportive, judgment-free environment. We are incredibly grateful for the impact it’s had on our daughter and our family.
